The Living Room – Community Visitors Scheme

At Many Rooms, we aim to live out Jesus’ call to love and serve the vulnerable and marginalised. In the Living Room, we want to joyfully share God’s love with the older people in our communities. We take seriously the responsibility of caring for, valuing and respecting the elderly. Through this service, we aim to enrich the quality of life of older people.

The Living Room – Community Visitors Scheme (CVS) is a service that plays a vital role in providing companionship for older people living in Aged Care Homes or living in their own homes and receiving (or waitlisted for) a home care package. Many Rooms is one of several community organisations funded by the Australian Government to deliver this initiative.

MANY ROOMS Volunteers

We are currently seeking volunteers who can commit to building an ongoing friendship with an older person, who may be lonely and isolated.

Fortnightly visits are spent doing the things that the older person enjoys most—such as reading, listening to music, watching a favourite TV show or just chatting and reminiscing. Activities may also extend to going for a walk or an outing, subject to the health and mobility of the person being visited.

We will match you with a care recipient in your location. The Living Room (CVS) is available to volunteers and care recipients from around City on a Hill locations, including; Geelong and the Surf Coast (Barwon South), Metropolitan Melbourne (East, West, South and North regions), and Brisbane (North and South Regions). We are looking to expand in the future to the Gold Coast and Wollongong, NSW.

If you want to become a Living Room (CVS) volunteer – read through our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) and apply below.
